EntreMundos was established in 2001, with our goal being to assist local NGOs become self-sufficient. We began working with a handful local organisations and have since increased the number of partner organisations to over 150. These civil society organisations, primarily in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, range from small community organisations to mid-size NGOs and address issues such as education, health, as well as the human rights of women and indigenous people. The main pillar of our work is to provide high impact capacity-building training to local NGOs on themes such as project planning and evaluation, fundraising and management of volunteers. As part of our technical assistance programming we also offer IT skills training to NGO workers and community group and cooperative members from basic to advanced levels. Along with our capacity building programmes, we also operate a free volunteer placement programme, and publish a free-of-charge bi-monthly, bilingual magazine (in Spanish and English) about development and human rights issues in Guatemala. In addition, we provide a forum and information centre for organisations, communities, volunteers and citizens concerned with development and human rights in Guatemala. Proyecto GT is a Guatemalan based organisation providing local non-profits and small NGO's with technical support. They provide free server spaces for organisations to host web sites, classes, and basic support. Proyecto GT believes that having access to technical skills and information is an integral part to increasing the capacity of locally run NGO's and non-profits to better themselves and their communities. By providing technical support to organisations in Guatemala, Proyecto GT hopes to Increase organisational access to computers and technical support and improve computer literacy among Guatemalan organisations. |
