The K'ichés
The bigest precolombus empire

In el Popol Vuh as during the war against the conquestadors, the Kiches were a warrier caste very proud to be the biggest empire when the Spaniards arrived.

Descendent of the grand mother Ixmucane, of the god Ixquic and of Hun Hunapu, the Kiches has always been the biggest ethnic group in Guatemala with close to 648000 persons.

The Kiches today are almost all living in the region Quiche, where they make beautiful textiles in cotton and wood. They make too ceramics made in wood oven.

They live too at the north of Solola where they cultivate coffee, corn, black beans, potatoes and vegetables. In the north of Suchitepequez they do religious images and meubles in pine.

Predominan en la parte norte de Suchitepéquez, donde destaca la imaginería religiosa y la fabricación de muebles de pino. They make too chandlery and ropes.

One of the most important bastion of the resistence indigene against the Spaniards was Quetzaltenango where took place the most bloodier battles. There they work the wood, palm, chandlery, leathe, and make music instruments.
